Pickering & Butters through our course of business send cheques to clients and others.
One of our cheques have been copied and a number of counterfiet 'cheques' are in circulation.
This type of fraud has happened to many private companies and public organisations.
Pickering & Butters have made our bank and Staffordshire Police aware of the situation.
Pickering & Butters are based in Staffordshire and any cheques sent by ourselves through the postal system will have s Staffordshire or West Midlands postmark on the envelope.
All cheques will have an Ultra Violet Dye in them. Under an Ultra Violet light this will appear as an elaborate watermark.
If you have received a counterfeit Pickering & Butters cheque for goods or services that you have been selling either in a magazine, newspaper or on the internet then you are a victim of an attempted fraud. You need to take this to your local Police Station and ask them to investigate the matter.
You will have merely received a piece of paper with our companies' details on.
Unless you reside in Staffordshire please do not report this matter to Staffordshire Police as the intended victim of this fraud is the person receiving the counterfeit cheque not Pickering & Butters.
