Sean Spinetto, a member of our Business Team recently completed a 212 mile Coast to Coast hike across the Scottish southern uplands in order to raise money for local hospice Katharine House, our chosen local charity.
Sean took up the challenge with friend and fellow walking companion and lawyer Martyn Brierley of Keely's solicitors in Derby. It is generally recommended that the walk be completed in at least 14 days. However, not wishing to use too much of his annual leave and more importantly, wanting to be back to see his beloved Derby County's first match of the new football season, Sean completed the walk in just 11 days which included a 23 mile hike on the first day, 24 and 26 mile jaunts on consecutive days and a monster 29 miler.
Despite parts of the walk being "absolute agony", Sean maintains that it was well worth it and managed to raise approximately £1000.
Sean is pictured with Martyn at the starting point of Portpatrick a small town on Scotlands west coast and also at the finish in the tiny village of Cockburnspath on the east coast.
This is the most recent in a series of activities undertaken by members of the firm as well as our participation in the hospices TLC (Ten Local Companies) scheme. Other activities have included Stewart Learoyds sky dive which raised £1,000.00 and a charity quiz night which raised in excess of £1,200.00. In addition the staff have held fund raising sponsored cycle rides, midnight walks and contributed to a yearly Christmas card donation fund, together with many other in-house donations.
