Amy Bedford, a member of our Litigation Department, practising in Personal Injury and Family Law, has recently returned from a two week trip to Uganda.
Amy went with a group of 20 others from Rising Brook Baptist Church to work with Cherish Uganda a charity set up to offer HOPE to HIV Orphans. The charity strives to offer Health, Love, Prosperity and Education to orphans who are HIV positive.
The orphanage, which is located in Bulega, a poor fishing village near Entebbe, is committed to outreaching to their local community. Amongst the activities organised with the orphanage, Amy and the team partnered with them to offer a Childrens Programme for both the Cherish orphans and the children from the local community. The morning Programme offered teaching and games aimed at younger children and the afternoon sessions were aimed at older children and included workshops such as football and craft. Both sessions offered a welcome break to more than 350 children who would normally be doing chores such as carrying water for long distances.
Amy is pictured at the Village Hall with one of the local children enjoying games at one of the morning programmes.
We are pleased to have helped Amy raise money in support of the charity which went towards buying the sports equipment for the children.
