Bright Future for New Trainees

It is fair to say that Training Contracts for aspiring solicitors are hard to come by in the current legal climate.  However, Katie Russell and Donna Nicholls have beaten the odds and each secured a Training Contract with long standing local firm, Pickering & Butters.

The firm, based in Stafford and Rugeley has a long standing tradition of moulding law graduates from Trainees to Partners over the years. Pickering & Butters boasts a loyal employee base and Katie and Donna managed to shine amongst a raft of applications to join the team and secure their futures in the law.

The traditional route of qualifying for Training Contracts was completed by both recruits; securing a Law Degree before completing the Legal Practice Course.   They will now continue that traditional route by sitting three seats (working in three areas of law) each to complete their Training Contract over a two year period.

Donna studied with the Open University for her Degree and attended Staffordshire University where she completed the Legal Practice Course.  She joins the firm, initially working with Managing Partner, Will Johnson, in the Wills & Probate Department.

Katie studied at Liverpool University for her Degree and the College of Law at Birmingham for her Legal Practice Course.   She joins Senior Partner, Don White, in the firm’s Commercial Team

Will Johnson, commented; “This year applications for our Training Contracts were extremely high, not only in number, but also in the quality of candidates.  We do put candidates though a rigorous application procedure and both Donna and Katie should be extremely proud of what they have achieved in setting themselves apart from a high calibre pool of applicants.  I am sure that both Trainees will excel in their current positions and future seats and we look forward to seeing them flourish in their roles to become great future lawyers.”
